Argh!

So I missed TWO posts over the weekend. Thus, I owe you three. Two of the pictures here are of one meal.Lunch... looks familiar, doesn't it.
An invention: egg-drop ramen. Didn't turn out as well as I had imagined (kind of tasteless, I think they use chicken stock at Chinese restaurants for their egg drop soup), but definitely still edible.
Sweet snap peas and baby corns from Co-Op. Half went in the ramen and half are for lunch tomorrow.

Pasty is such a fun word

Cheese and Mushroom Cornish Pasty from the Cornish Pasty Company (which is a little like a Panera, except in an old building and they serve pasties instead of overpriced sandwiches). Apparently Cornish Pasties (according to Wikipedia) have potatoes, turnip, and onion as well as whatever other type of filling you like. I still can't tell the difference between a potato and a turnip, though I have definitely had turnips several times since I have been here.

An apple a day

Generally speaking, the apples here are runty little things... three or four of one of these little Granny Smiths could fit into one of my beloved Honeycrisps. But I think size mattered, at least for this apple-- It was wonderfully sour!

First post!

Hello all! So, my name is Stephanie (but if you're reading the first post, you likely know that already), and I am spending a year studying abroad at the University of Cambridge. The idea that led to the creation of this blog is as follows: I've been here for about two weeks now, and I've been posting my photos so far on my Facebook account. Oddly, the pictures that seem to have attracted the most attention... are the ones of things that I have ate. A little back story: I have a tendency to take pictures of the wrong things when I go places. I have a hard time with remembering to take pictures of great historical sites or famous buildings, but I will take a picture of graffiti on a newspaper dispenser. Taking pictures of my food is, as my sister says, "classic stephanie... she's obsessed with food". And she's correct: I love food. So I decided to turn this peculiar habit of mine into a blog.

So, the idea is simple: Every day, once a day, I will post a picture of something I have eaten. It may be from that day or the day previous, or some other time. It might be a full meal... or it might just be a snack or a drink. Since I've been here two weeks already, I'll put some pictures up to start, but hopefully I can get it going full tilt tomorrow!
Winsteads was, by request, my last meal in Kansas City. I had a double with cheese and everything with a 50/50. Airport food: an odd cheese danish in Philadelphia International Airport.
They called this a hot dog at the stall in City Centre, but it was definitely more of a sausage. Name doesn't matter, it was still yummy. With mustard and ketchup.Food I cooked myself! Fresh green beans boiled with a strip of bacon.
Subway Italian BMT. The meat and cheese smell a bit more pungent then they do in the States, but the taste is the same (less preservatives). The cost... definitely not $5.
